’12 disciples’ was filmed at Bradford Playhouse Nov 2009. Participants were invited to join a fictional recruitment company based in ‘The Hole’ that resulted from a failed development in Bradford City centre. Half job interview, half psychoanalysis, participants were lead through the back stage passages to encounter a camera and headset.

The collected footage is a record of the individual responses and reactions of the participants. Across the void left by the absence interviewer, the volunteers unwittingly engage in moments of dialogue.

A record of the psychological effects of the recession on Bradford’s community, the ’12 Disciples,’ left unguided by urban development and battling increasing unemployment, are interrogated by pseudo scientific interview techniques. Allowed to run wild in the vacuous space left by a failed city centre developmentment, ‘Hole Recruitment’ has turned in on itself, continually recruiting for a salvation that will not come.

This is part of an ongoing project with Bradford Playhouse.
